The USVI is contacting Bermuda for personal medical insurance packages.

Mr Osbert E. Potter, USVI Lieutenant Governor of the US Virgin Islands Mr Osbert E. Potter, said during a news briefing on Monday 3 October 2016 that he would be travelling to Bermuda next weekend to see insurance funds on the islands; a UK area hoping to persuade them to provide package deals for US Virgin Islands people.

Mister Potter said he had contacted US healthcare insurers, but these companies have withdrawn from the Affordable Health Care Act, making any attempt to provide similar packages in the area more difficult. However, Bermudas, he said, have powerful insurance companies and disclosed that pre-talks have shown their readiness to provide packages.

With Mr. Potter, Gwendolyn Brady, Director of Banking and Insurance, will travel "to see if we could miss the almost 25,000 to 30,000 Virgin Islanders they don't have, but urgently need, a dent," Mr. Potter said. Mr Potter also said that those with overdue wealth tax should work with the wealth tax department to devise a settlement schedule as the agent would restart real estate auctioning in 2017.
